Lenten Devotional – Day 28

50 Days with Jesus in the Upper Room
Day 28 – Tuesday, March 13, 2006

Today’s Assignment – Re-read John 15:1-27 and write down what you have learned from this chapter.

Today’s Quote:-“Jesus (here) has already revealed the fundamental secret of Christian living, out of which everything else flows. These seven words of Jesus, “You in me and I in you,” are, in my estimation, the most profound truth ever revealed on this planet. Discovering their meaning is the business of the Christian life. Like Einstein’s formula, E = mc2, this simple statement is a description of unbelievable power.” – Dr. Ray Stedman

This Week’s Memory Verse – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

So?…..What’s it to me? – As a result of today’s study I will…

From John Maxwell and Proverbs 12: 1

The first person you lead is you—and you can’t lead effectively without self–discipline….How about you? How is your self–discipline? Plato said, “The first and best victory is to conquer self.” If you want to be a leader with self–discipline, follow these action points: 1. Develop and follow your priorities. 2. Make a disciplined lifestyle your goal. 3. Challenge your excuses. 4. Remove rewards until you finish the job. 5. Stay focused on results. Never trade what you want at the moment for what you want most.

Proverbs 12:1 – Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

Lenten Devotional – Day 27

50 Days with Jesus in the Upper Room
Day 27 – Monday, March 12, 2018

Today’s Assignment – Read John 15:26-27 and answer the following questions.

1. Who sends the Helper, the Spirit of the Truth?

2. From whom does the Spirit proceed?

3. Of what will the Spirit testify?

4. What will the disciples do?

Today’s Quote: “This means that He is constantly being sent forth by God, and His coming at the day of Pentecost was a special instance of this. The Spirit testifies concerning Christ. This is His great mission. He does not seek to occupy men with Himself, though He is one of the members of the Trinity. But He directs the attention of both sinner and saint to the Lord of glory.”
– Dr. William McDonald

This Week’s Memory Verse – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

So?…..What’s it to me? – As a result of today’s study I will…

Lenten Devotional – Day 26

50 Days with Jesus in the Upper Room

Day 26 – Sunday, March 11, 2018

Today’s Assignment – Read John 15:18-25 and answer the following questions.

1. What does Jesus say about the possibility of persecution?

2. Why, according to Jesus, will we be persecuted?

3. What is true of those who hate Jesus?

4. Did anyone have a legitimate reason to hate Jesus?

Today’s Quote: “Jesus’ choice of the disciples had set them apart for a different kind of life and for a different purpose. Therefore, the world would exclude them. Jesus’ choice was also n the guarantee that the lives of his disciples would have permanent value, but it did not guarantee immunity from attack “ -.Dr. Merrill Tenney

This Week’s Memory Verse – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

So?…..What’s it to me? – As a result of today’s study I will…

Lenten Devotional – Day 25

50 Days with Jesus in the Upper Room
Day 25 – Saturday, March 10, 2018

Today’s Assignment – Read John 15:9-17 and answer the following questions.

1. How do I abide in Christ’s love?

2. What is Jesus’ commandment to us?

3. How is our love to be measured?

4. How does Jesus refer to His disciples?

5. Why did Jesus choose us?

Today’s Quote: “His great purpose is that we should produce fruit, not just passing fruit, but fruit that will remain. It must all be in His will. If we abide in Him, then we can ask in His name. Answers to our prayers are a pretty good barometer of our spirituality. “– Dr. J. Vernon McGee

This Week’s Memory Verse – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

Lenten Devotional – Day 24

50 Days with Jesus in the Upper Room
Day 24 – Friday, March 9, 2018

Today’s Assignment – Read John 15:5-8 and answer the following questions.

1. What happens when we abide in Christ?

2. What are the consequences of not abiding in Christ?

3. How does it benefit us to abide in Christ?

4. What benefit is it to God for us to abide in Christ?

Today’s Quote: “A machine can produce results, and so can a robot, but it takes a living organism to produce fruit. It takes time and cultivation to produce fruit; a good crop does not come overnight. We must remember that the branches do not eat the fruit: others do. We are not producing fruit to please ourselves but to serve others. We should be the kind of people who “feed” others by our words and our works. “The lips of the righteous feed many”
(Prov. 10:21)”.- Dr. Warren Wiersbe

This Week’s Memory Verse – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
