My Prayer Today
Rachel is weeping today
Matthew 2:18 – “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
Rachel is weeping today, Lord, You spoke these words when Herod, a madman, killed the babies of Bethlehem seeking to destroy Your Son. Those innocent ones were civilian casualties in the war between You and the Evil One. There was no comforting
Rachel for she had lost her precious priceless beautiful children.
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. An eighteen-year-old madman killed nineteen elementary school children, 8,9, and 10 year olds and two of their dedicated teachers in Uvalde, Texas. There are no words to comfort their families, Lord. No words. The thing they feared most has happened to them. The pain is unbearable.
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. We will pray for them today but that seems so hollow, so empty. Please embrace these families. We will weep with them, but they so need You. You alone can give them hope and peace and strength. Please bring healing to the wounded and please help our first responders process this tragic event.
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. We don’t understand. We know You are in control so we are confused. We can’t help but ask “why”? Today and tomorrow and probably for weeks on end we will ask “ why”?. We are trusting You Lord but it’s hard.
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. We know that we are of God and that are whole world lies in the hands of the Wicked One so we aren’t surprised yet this is unimaginable. We know that You say that evil men will become worse and worse and we are seeing that more and more. As evil abounds, please keep our hearts from becoming cold or hard. Let us draw near to You today. We need Your presence. We need Your Word.
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. We live in a world that worships so many other things besides You. So very many words will be spoken in the coming days. Lord for a few moments please may we take to heart the words of the Prophet – “But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.” – Habakkuk 2:20 (ESV)
Rachel is weeping today, Lord. Please intervene. We need You
