Twenty-Eight Days of Unwrapping Christmas – Day Twelve, Thursday, December 12th , 2013

This Week’s Theme – Jesus Christ, the Suffering Servant of God

This Week’s Verse to Remember – Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Today’s Devotional Reading and Assignment

Please Read and compare Mark 1:1 and Matthew 1:1-17

What is different between these two passages?

Why doesn’t Mark include a genealogy based on fact that Matthew reveals Jesus as King  and Mark reveals Him as a Servant?

Please also read Isaiah 61:1-3 and Luke 22:27

Quote of the Day – “Mark wrote primarily for Roman readers, and his emphasis is on Jesus Christ as the Servant of God. One of his key words is “straightway” (immediately), used forty-one times in the book. Mark portrays Jesus as the Servant of God constantly on the go and meeting the needs of all kinds of people.” – Dr. Warren Wiersbe in Wiersbe’s Expository  New Testament Outlines.
